What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a clear, almost invisible aligner that straightens your teeth and can enhance your smile. Invisalign® clear aligner orthodontics are made to order once you and your dentist has decided that this is the right treatment plan for you. A 3D scan of your teeth will be taken to help your dentist build a treatment plan and have your series of aligners made.

How long will my teeth take to straighten, and is it painful?

Everyone’s teeth are different, but between 3 and 9 months is long enough to give most of our patients the aligned teeth that they desire. Invisalign® is a gentle process for most patients. There can be some mild discomfort during the first week of wearing the aligners, although this is significantly less than the discomfort from fixed braces.

Do I need to have impressions taken?

No. We have a 3d digital iTero scanner which allows us to comfortably scan your teeth to produce the treatment plan and aligners.

How often do I need to wear my aligners?

Aligners should be worn all the time and only removed for eating, cleaning your teeth, and flossing. Each aligner is worn for 1 week and then changed to the next one in the sequence.

How often do I need to come for appointments for Invisalign?

We usually give you 3-5 aligners at a time meaning we see you every 3-5 weeks. Although this is slightly flexible so we can work round other commitments you may have such as holidays etc. We also offer evening and weekend appointments for convenience.

Do I need to wear a retainer after treatment?

Yes a retainer needs to be worn to prevent the teeth moving again, just as with normal braces treatment. How often you need to wear this can be discussed with your dentist
